Hectic but lovely weekend.... It's pizza week!

I'm gonna blog about pizza again... hehe.... This time it's better than my first attempt in making Pizza for Doink. :)
.
It was a beautiful Sunday morning and I got up early to prepare the pizza dough. Was so excited to make all those lovely pizzas and I just can't wait for Doink to come over. Anyway, as usual, I love making a wide range of variety of food. So I made like quite a number of different pizzas for Doink.
.

The first pizza I made is Sunny Side Up Pizza. Oooooh.... absolutely gorgeous. I spread it with my own homemade pizza sauce, mushrooms, bacon (yummy), mozarella cheese and of course an egg. This is a perfect breakfast meal. haha...

Doink's favourite Sunny Side Up Pizza

Next is the BBQ Chicken Pizza. I cooked the chicken that is marinated with special BBQ sauce and spread the pizza with BBQ sauce, topped with red onions, chicken and Mozarella Cheese. Perfectly Gorgeous. And it's not that sinful too. Who says good food has to be sinful?

My Favourite BBQ Chicken Pizza

With some luncheon meat leftover, I topped the pizza with it and made Luncheon meat pizza. Taste quite delicious. It goes well with mushroom and onions.

My babies

I also made Flavoured Sausage Pizza. It's just an ordinary pizza topped with Mushroom Sausages, mushrooms, onions and mozarella cheese. Simple and delicious is all I can say!

Flavoured Sausages Pizza

Meatballs Pasta are beautiful and Doink loves it a lot. So I guess it will taste as good as it would be if I make Meatballs Pizza. Made some lovely meatballs based on amended Nigella Lawson's recipe. hehe... It actually tasted quite delicious.

Meatballs Pizza

Being a bit adventourous, decided to try and make Stuffed Pizza just like the one served in Pizza Hut. I stuffed the crust with sausages. Well, it didn't turn out that pretty and I guess I wasn't that good in shaping the dough. I guess you should know by now. All my pizzas are pretty out of shape. hehe.... That's because I do not have any pizza pans or moulds. But anyway, the most important thing is that it's homemade and it taste good. Moreover Doink loves it a lot :)

Stuffed Crust Pizza

Of course, deserts being my favourite part of my meal, I will definitely make some pizza deserts. hehe... First desert is the Chocolate Peach Pizza. Spread some chocolate sauce, layer the peaches and topped with some chocolate chips. Ooooh, the chocolate chips melted and it's gorgeously delicious when it's warm.

Chocolate Peach Pizza

This particular desert is my favourite. The base is spread with cream cheese that is already mixed with icing sugar. Topped it with peaches and drizzle some strawberry sauce. Perfect!

Peachy Cream Cheese Pizza

I think most of you guys think I'm nuts to make 9 different types of pizza. But you have no idea how happy I was preparing all of the food. It was a hectic Sunday but satisfied. At least Doink get to savour all his favourite food.

Carrot Cake

Carrot cake is a sweet spice cake with grated carrot mixed into the batter. And I never knew carrot cake could taste so beautiful until I first tried it in UK. My friend bought a pre-packaged carrot cake at Tesco for me when I was in UK. During that time, I was still not good in baking at all and I hardly bake anything.
Anyway, Carrot Cake is always something I want to make but I never seem to find the time to bake this yummy cake. I am always busy with something else and I have a list of food to prepare for Doink at times. But anyway, I didn't know why I was so excited to bake one of the weekends after work. I got home, put my stuff in my room, change and started taking out all the utensils and baking pans. hehe.... By the way, I would only do that at times when I don't get to see Doink at night after work.
.

Carrot Cake (freshly came out from the oven)
.
I found a few different recipes in baking carrot cake. In the end, I mix and match to suit according to my taste. I didn't have mixed spice, thus I used cinnamon powder instead. I don't know if it will taste much better if I had used mixed spice. Might try baking it again soon and will keep u informed. I also added a bit of walnuts into the carrot cake to enhance the flavour.

Lovely carrot cake posing in front of the camera
.
Carrot cake may be eaten plain but of course it will not be perfect without cream cheese icing layered on top of it. Oooooh, sinfully good!!! However, I only had a bit of cream cheese left. sob sob.... Thus, only part of my cake is eaten with the cream cheese icing. Anyway, Doink was ok eating it without cream cheese icing as he said the cake taste equally good if it's served with ice cream. In fact, it's better especially when your cake is hot melting your ice cream. hehe...
.
Bunny is coming to get you...
.
Oooh, it's so fun to bake after work. But then I do get a bit tired after that. Hehe.... It was all worth it either way.

Mille Crepe.... All the way from Melaka....

Jason Mumbles (I save his number and name him as Jason Mille Crepe...hehe) is such an amazing person. He actually delivered Mille Crepe from Nadeje Patisserie cafe from Melaka all the way to KL for all those Mille Crepe lovers. Isn't he sweet???
.
First time meeting him, and he is superbly friendly and I really hope to meet him again. I think eating with this big guy will bring you lots of laughter and joy.
.
Anyway, I ordered 3 different flavours of Mille Crepe - Original, Rum Raisin and Cheese.... Ooooh, yummmy!!! I wonder how much calories is in those cakes.
.

Boxes of Mille Crepe

The Orginal Flavour is really good. OOoooh, you just can't get enough of it. It's worth every single penny spent.

Original Flavour
.
Oooh, Rum Raisin is gorgeous. Really melts my heart the moment I have the first bite.
Rum Raisin Flavour
.
For the Cheese Flavour, I don't really quite taste it and it wasn't up to my expectation. I guess that's because the Orginal and Rum Raisin Flavour taste too good. Ooooooh dear, I'm gonna crave for this cake all the time. Jason, you better come down to KL more often. Hehe....!!!
.
Cheese Flavour

Anyway, to all those who go to Melaka, please try this yummy cake. You gonna love it. Thanks a million Jason.
Happy Family... *Smile*... Ok, enough.. It's time to be executed!

Hayn's Pizzeria

I remember one of the Friday nights, Doink and I wanted to try some place new. I read some review about Hayn's Pizzeria located in Hartamas and decided to pay a visit to this place. It was a quiet night surprisingly as Hartamas was quite empty.

Anyway, the interior design in Hayn's Pizzeria is quite nice. It's quite comfortable dining in there and the place is bright and simple. There were big pictures of fresh ingredients hung by the wall.

Anyway, Doink knows I'm quite a picky eater when it comes to Italian food so he was actually thinking twice whether to bring me to this place. But since I'm the one who suggested to dine in here, he had no choice but to support my decision. :)

We ordered the mushroom soup. The taste was quite delicious and creamy. But somehow it wasn't good enough. The garlic bread comes together with the soup and it was amazingly beautiful. Buttery and garlicy enough.

Mushroom Soup with Garlic Bread

We ordered 2 different types of pizza. One of it was the Turkey Ham, mushroom with olives pizza. Sorry to say that the taste was so-so only. Bella in SS2 or Pizza Uno in Centrepoint is way way much better than here.

Turkey Ham, Mushroom with Olives Pizza

Next up was the Banana, Chocolate, Turkey Ham pizza. Sounds interesting huh. This is something most Malaysians might enjoy. The taste is quite special. Great if you are trying it for the 1st time. But anyway, I won't try it again. :)

Banana, Chocolate, Turkey Ham Pizza

Than I wanted to try their Spaghetti Alio. The taste was bland and all I could taste was the olive oil only. Sigh. Disappointment again!

Spaghetti Alio

To be honest, I wasn't happy dining here and I won't come back here again unless I have no choice. The only thing that was nice in here was the design of the shop and the price. It's pretty cheap to dine in here.
Hmm, must go find a yummy Italian place to dine.

Weekend Lunch

I haven't been cooking lately instead I was baking quite often. And moreover, I somehow feel superbly tired when I get back home. So instead of cooking for Doink on weekends, he will bring me out and eat.

Last weekend, I felt kinda lazy to go out in the afternoon. So decided to cook a simple meal for him. I cooked BBQ honey chicken wings. It's pretty easy to make. Just marinade the chicken wings with soy sauce, BBQ sauce, Honey and tomato sauce.

BBQ Honey Chicken Wings

I also prepared mashed potatoes. Instead of preparing the normal mashed potatoes, I added mashed eggs together with the mashed potatoes to add more flavour to it. Of course not forgetting to add salt, black pepper, milk and butter. Yummy! The chicken wings are laid on topped of the mashed potatoes.

Chicken Wings on a Bed of Mashed Potatoes

I also made garlic sauteed mushrooms again, sausages and garlic butter scones. Didn't manage to capture any pictures for those food. It all went into Doink's and my big tummy. *grin*

I also prepared some desert. I made iced strawberry milk with strawberry jam. Just put a layer of strawberry jam and pour strawberry milk on top of it. And let it freeze. Ready to be served in 4hours time. So simple to prepare and it taste quite refreshing. Something different to have if you are sick of ice cream.

Iced Strawberry Milk with jam

I also prepared Caramelised Pineapple served with Vanila Ice Cream. Just cook the pineapple with sugar water and than topped it with ice cream and decorate as shown below. Nice and lovely. Another wonderful weekend spent together with Doink.

Custard and Coconut Bun

I'm gonna post about buns again!!! Have been so crazy about buns lately. Actually I'm crazy in making them. Haha... It taste superbly yummy when it just come out from the oven, soft and hot.... Oooooh, soothe and warm your tummy.

Custard buns (spitting out its custard)

Made some lovely custard buns. My favourite food when I was in UK. I will order this custard bun whenever I have my Dim Sum in UK. The custard buns I had in UK are actually fried so it taste so gorgeously sinfully delicious. However, I did not fry these custard buns I made as I find it too sinful.

Lovely Custard Buns

Oooh, I'm soooo in love with custard buns. Haha... I can pop this yummy buns in my mouth non-stop. Hehe...

Oooh.... missing them so muchie...

At the same time I also made Butter Coconut Buns specially ordered by Doink since he is sooooo in love with Coconut which I never knew. These buns actually taste really yummy. I put butter, coconut and sugar and mix them together and stuff it in the dough before baking them. Just pop it in the oven for 15 minutes, your sinful Butter Coconut Buns are ready to be eaten. Haha!!!

Sausage Buns

People who knows me well knows that I'm a bread lover. I can survive if you just give me a plain loaf of bread. hehe.... So loving bread will eventually make me wanting to learn how to make one.

Anyway, this is my first time making these tiny mini sausage buns. Some will call it either sausage rolls or pigs in a blanket. Usually sausage rolls are actually sausage wrapped around danish pastry while pigs in a blanket are sausages wrapped around bacon. And mine is wrapped around soft, moisty bun.

My lovely sausage buns... gonna eat u guys up.. *grin*

I firstly prepared the sweet bread dough which probably takes me about 1 1/2 hour including standing time. After that, I just roll those dough and wrapped the sausages inside it. I will cut each sausages into 3 parts to make 3 cutie sausage buns. Hey, I'm naming these sausage buns under my nick. It's fun popping these cutie buns into my mouth once it's out from the oven. *laughing hysterically* But beware, your mouth might get burned if you are not too careful. haha....

Close up of cutie sausage buns

Than I became a little bit adventourous. I made sausage buns with mixed vegetable. The usual sausage buns that one can get at a bread shop. It's actually quite easy to make and I had so much fun making it. Topped these buns with mixed vegetable and spread some lovely mayonaise or thousand island and ketchup. It's now ready to be baked.

Sausage Buns with Mixed Vegetable

After 15 minutes, these buns are ready to be executed by me. haha... Anyway, I made these sausage buns for Doink to snack during working hours and also for his breakfast.

Close up of my yummylicious sausage bun with mixed vegetable

I guess it's not too bad since it's my first time making this. I think I'm in a 'BUN'ny mood. Gonna make more buns like custard bun, coconut bun etc.... :)

Omelette & Mushroom for Brekkie

I know it's a bit late to blog about my last weekend. Anyway, last weekend was really nice as I did not get any Sunday Blues at all coz Monday was a holiday for me. How nice!!! Doink requested to have omelette and it is one of his favourite when he was a little kid.

An omelette is a preparation of beaten egg cooked with butter in a frying pan, usually folded around a filling such as cheese. I filled the omelette with diced ham, mushrooms, onions and cheese.... Loads of cheese!!! *grin*

Omelette filled with ham, mushrooms, onions & cheese

I also cook garlic sauteed mushrooms. This recipe was found in the Tapas Cook Book Doink bought for me. A very simple, easy and yummy dish to cook especially to all mushrooms lover like me. All you need to do is cook the mushrooms with olive oil, garlic, a hint of lemon, season it with salt and pepper and add parsley just before u serve. It's just that simple and you can savour this yummylicious dish. I use white mushrooms coz it's cheaper. However, the recipe book actually recommends you to use button mushrooms.

Garlic Sauteed Mushrooms

A satisfying and comfortable weekend brekkie. After that it's time to watch House. I kinda like Hugh Laurie so muchie!!! haha... Doink please don't get jealous. Afterall you are the one who recommended me to watch House...hehe...

Lovely Haagen Dazs Ice Cream

I went to 1 Utama with Doink and I was so excited that I'm going to finally try the Zuup Soup Bar there. However, that fellow told us to come back later as they are only open at 12pm. I looked at my watch and my time was showing 11.50am!!! I was quite furious as he couldn't even just allow me to sit at his shop. I walked away with Doink and was complaining how that guy does not know how to do business.

So we went to dine at Genki Sushi. But guess what, so many things were out of stock or not available. They ran out of stock for all food that contain chicken and salmon. That's bad. The 2 main ingredients of food that a Japanese restaurant should have is not available. They should have just close shop since they don't serve anything. We had 2 spider maki and left the place. I'm not going to visit Genki Sushi in the near future.

So many things are not available!

Since I didn't have a good lunch with Doink, he brought me to have something really yummylicious. Something that has a longer lasting pleasure...

Yup yup yup.... It's Haagen Dazs. We ordered something really chocolatey. Can't remember what it is called but it cost us RM22.95. Anyway, I have some vouchers, so we didn't pay much for that.
.
.
Mmmm, gorgeous!!!

Oooh, it's soooo sinful...

Oooh, feel like having another one again! Gosh, I wonder how much workout I have to do to burn all those calories. *grin*

Cotton Cheese Cake (Japanese Cheese Cake)

I love Cotton Cheese Cake. Something not too cheesy and the taste is really light. Oooh, it's also less sinful. An ideal dessert to those weight conscious people like me. I haven't been making this lovely Cotton Cheese Cake for a very long time. With some leftover cream cheese, I decided to make this yummylicious cake for Doink.
.
.
It's very simple to make this cake. Very few ingredients is needed and you just need to steam bake it. Oooh, gorgeous.
.
Ingredients
70gm fine granulated sugar
3 egg whites
1/4 tsp cream of tartar
.
25gms butter
125gm cream cheese
3 egg yolks
50ml fresh milk
1tbsp lemon juice (can add more if you like it lemony)
30gms self raising flour
10 gms corn flour
.
Method
1. Melt cream cheese, butter, milk over a double boiler. Cool down than add in egg yolks and lemon juice.
2. Whisk egg whites, sugar with cream of tartar until slightly stiff. Mix in (1), cornflour, flour and stir until well combined. Do not over mix it so that the air is not trap in. Otherwise your cake will not be fluffy.
3. Pour batter into a cake tin and steam bake at 160 degrees Celcius for about 1 hour. If you want to check whether the cake is ready, just use a toothpick to poke into the centre of the cake. If it comes out clean, that means the cake is ready to be served.
.
This cake is best served when it's cold.
.
.
This is something lovely to be eaten by anyone. Doink loves it a lot and he prefers this compared to other types of Cheese Cake as it doesn't make you feel sick after having too much of it. It might be suitable for those non-cheese lovers as the taste of the cheese is not strong at all. It's definitely worth a try making this gorgeous cake. If you are interested in making it a little bit sinful, maybe you can add a dollop of cream to serve together with it. Hehe....
.
However, if you are lazy to make this cake, you can purchase it from some supermarket like Jusco. I think it's selling for RM10 at La Boheme.
